Product Review: Black & Decker PD600 Pivot Plus 6-Volt Nicad Cordless Screwdriver with Articulating Head
Large and underpowered
I’ve also experienced intermittent problems with the reverse function
and in some instances it ends up being incredibly slow and has stopped working
on a few occasions. The battery itself is NiCAD which in this day and age is a
bit outdated and adds to the weight. Because
of the memory effect with NiCAD batteries, they are notorious for losing their
charge when not in use as well as need to be completely discharged before
recharging. The product gets a star for
the universal ‘Quick Connect’ bit system which is convenient, but other than
that I would have a hard time recommending this product for even light duty

I had purchased this for odd
jobs where I did not necessarily need a larger power drill, was portable and
reliable. Unfortunately I was disappointed
with just about everything with this tool.
The tool was heavier than I expected, at close to three pounds (without
the battery) does not seem like much it was fairly cumbersome with the battery
installed. This tool boasts a pivoting
handle that locks in three different positions but a true right angle is not
one of them. Also as far as a 23-position clutch I would say that there are
about 15 that are unnecessary for a 6 volt battery powered screwdriver.
