Product Review: AmazonBasics AAA Performance Alkaline Batteries (36 Count)

4.0 out of 5 starsBatteries. Boring yet efficient

Stop paying a premium for name brand disposable batteries

At this point, disposable batteries are somewhat ubiquitous, alkaline and lithium batteries have three parts, an anode (-), a cathode (+), and the electrolyte. The cathode and anode (the positive and negative sides at either end of a traditional battery) are hooked up to an electrical circuit. AmazonBasics Performance alkaline battery delivers performance on a par with the leading brands at a much lower price. I’ve found they last roughly as long as more recognized brands in both high-drain and low-drain devices. In general, Alkaline batteries are less expensive and are best suited for low-drain applications, while pricier lithium batteries are better for high-drain devices such as a camera flash. Depending on type, disposable batteries can retain their initial charge from 10 to up to 20 years on the shelf -- far longer than even the best rechargeable. Most name-brand alkaline batteries that I’ve used have performed almost identically to generic brands and concluded that it makes most sense to buy based on price alone.
